New Year Resolutions come and go within 7 days or less for most people due to lack of focus, lack of planning and lack of having found their reason WHY. If you want to make 2010 really take off for you then here are some important points to remember.
New Year Resolutions are made by millions of people every year as the old year ends and a New Year gives you an opportunity to make a fresh start.
The average length of time most people follow their resolutions for is 7 days or less, as soon as “life” returns to “normal” the same factors that held you back last year will still be there to knock you off track this year unless you prepare and plan ahead.
Although people are abundantly aware that the previous year was spent trying to reach their goals, make more money in their business, quit the rat race, get out of debt , lose that excess weight or give up a bad habit, for most people last year never quite turned out the way they had expected.
They will tell themselves exactly why this has happened, the ”things” that sent them off track, perhaps they listened to third party advice, gave in to temptation due to stress plus a hole host of other reasons why their plans did not work. For some it will be one of “Life’s little hurdles” such as loss or illness.
In reality, the only real reasons for not achieveing yoru goals or sticking to New Years Resolutions are more to do with NOT having a strong enough REASON WHY at the forefront of their plans. One that is strong enough to make you climb every hurdle that life puts in between you and achieve your goals and success.
Setting goals is all about developing your reason why, and very often simply having the wrong goals, like getting out of debt, make more money, buy a new car are too shallow and do not tap into the emotional drive that is needed to keep you moving forward to actually achieving your goals.
Goals setting should include goals for your health, your wealth, your wisdom and your spirituality. The real key to finding your reason why should be to find something that keeps you in a positive excited mindset at the very thought of achieving your goals. You should be leaping from your chair at the very thought of putting in the effort required to start making those goals a reality.
You are never going to achieve your goals with positive thinking alone, you need to develop a strategy and put in sustained effort of the right kind to achieve them. You will never have a gym body without putting in the work and the same is true with a business.
The hardest part of any plan is sustaining the effort until you reach the breakthrough. The momentum phase of anything you do will be the hardest and it is only by knowing your real reason why that you will find that you become an unstoppable force.
You will need to develop your mindset every day to be able to add more value to everything you do, as you push your own boundaries you will develop your character and that is the only way to grow yourself, your business and your results.
Give yourself enough time, commit to at least 12 months at any new business, too many people look for fast fixes that simply do not exist.
You will have to take massive action to create the results you seek, successful people never do the minimum, the phrase you should incorporate into your being is GO BIG or GO HOME.
If you really want change in your life, first you have to change. The definition of insanity is doing the same things over & over again expecting completely different results. 2010 is the perfect time to do something different.
