When You Want Something You Have Never Had You Must Do What You Have Never Done

by Diane Cossie on December 28, 2009

when_you_want_something_quoteThe headline is a famous quotation and is exactly the quote I had on a motivational poster on my office wall for 12 months before being able make the change from being a very trapped and stressed out bricks and mortar small business owner to being able to focus on becoming an internet entrepreneur.

Having the skill set of being an office manger, administration “machine”, customer service desk, accountant, plus a host of other “hats” you would think you are pretty much prepared for anything in terms of mindset or skill set.

So when faced with a complete career change when it comes to network marketing it is no wonder that people fall at the first hurdle which for most is getting started. Their expectations bear no resemblance to the reality of the situation they are asking of themselves in comparison to anything they have tried in life up to that point.

Network marketing gets a “bad rap” in general from people who come into it unprepared for what they have to master. They rarely have any guidance or marketing strategies to follow step by step other than the three foot rule, often disguised as “just stepping outside of your comfort zone”. The question I had when I started online was about the scale of action required to be able to achieve the results most people in this industry so desperately want.

Yet if you think of TV shows such as X Factor or American Idol, most people can clearly see (and hear) the immediate difference between someone who has been singing from a young age and practising every day and sombody who turns up for the audition and sounds similar to a cat being strangled and thinking they somehow sound like Beyonce or Maria Carey.

So to really understand what the quotation within the headline means to you will mean a lot more than you think at this point because you have yet to challenge your thoughts. Are you willing to do what most people do not?

It makes me laugh when I see people sign up for more information for my primary business, only to unsubscribe within 24 hours or less dismissing the information out of hand. If it is not what you are looking for, that is fine but at least gather the full facts and due your own due diligence thoroughly first.

If you think there is something faster, that will do all the work for you, build your downline on autopilot and send you masses of wealth within 2 hours of starting then good luck with that one, you will find it at the end of the rainbow with that pot of gold the leprechaun will give you :)

The more advanced and experienced you get, the more frustrated you become at watching people squander years and years flitting from opportunity to opportunity trying to find “the one” that works, where in fact you’ll find over time that almost every business works it is you that is the variable.

Success is largely hanging on after others have left or quit. You can only know and understand this to be true when you become one of the ones that stuck it out long enough to grind out your first results. After the momentum phase it becomes much easier and there is nothing like the feeling of having climbed the mountains, hit the depths and come back to climb even bigger mountains with ease.

Some people appear to come straight into a new business and achieve massive results in record times, others appear to be slow to start then either fizzle away, stay stuck doing the same things with the same results,( this phase can often last years because you know quitting is out of the question) or suddenly everything clicks into place and away they go.

In most cases the runaway successes you see and hear about come ONLY after many years of trial and error, or they have a much higher skill set or previous experience and therefore become record breakers in your business.

It is the scenario of being a crouching tiger / hidden dragon that is so interesting, the ones that absorb and absorb all the information first appearing to be doing very little that can suddenly go from first gear to full throttle having put in more ground work and expertise that their fast start counterparts because they are building their business for the long term.

If you think you are the kind of person who is willing to do something you have never done and learn about internet marketing for long term stability and security in your life, click here  to sample what is on offer when you choose to take your network marketing business Off Road.
